Combat Stress is the UK’s leading veterans’ mental health charity. We treat a range of mental health conditions including PTSD, depression and anxiety.
Mental health issues can affect ex-servicemen and women of all ages. Right now, we have more than 6,000 veterans registered with us for support. We’re a vital lifeline for these veterans, and their families.

An organisation working locally to arrange monthly teaparties for guests over the age of 75. Volunteer to host, drive or nominate guests.
Clear, practical advice and support for people experiencing issues with mental health and money. Covers having mental health and money problems, money affecting your mental health, and supporting/caring for someone with money and/or mental health problems. Includes tools, advice, personal testimonies and more. The people who have shared their stories include those who have run up debt, been unable to cope and work due to a bereavement, and supporting a relative whose spending was affected by their mental health.
Mental Health Foundation (Scotland)
Lots of information on the UK site. In Scotland, we focus on social justice and inequality in mental health, raising awareness of mental health with the public and working in partnership with community organisations, policy makers and researchers.
A great site with lots of information and support. Includes an A-Z of mental health, latest news about mental health and wellbeing and people’s own stories.
Reach Out is a campaign launched by NHS Highland with one key aim – to tackle loneliness and social isolation in the Highlands and Argyll & Bute. Along with our partner agencies, and with your help, we are looking to ‘reach out’ to those individuals who may be lonely, and make a difference in their lives.
At SAMH we know how a mental health problem can affect everything. It can have the most profound impact on our relationships, our work, our wellbeing and our quality of life.
So we’re here to support you. From help and advice about work to understanding more about your illness. From preparing for an appointment with your GP to getting information about local services.
SRN is a non-profit initiative working to achieve a Scotland where mental health recovery is a reality for all. We believe that people with experience of mental health problems and those around them should expect recovery and that recovery values and principles should form the basis of how, as a society, we approach mental health issues.
See Me is Scotland’s programme to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination and enable people who experience mental health problems to live fulfilled lives”. One of their key messages is “it’s okay to not feel okay.

Our aim is to improve the quality of life for anyone whose mental health problems or mental illness has a serious impact on their life and on the lives of others, including family members, friends and supporters. There are local Support groups across Highland.
