Gambling Support Training

Aims and Objectives:

The Citizens Advice Scotland Gambling Support Service has been funded to offer free training to organisations and frontline workers who work with clients who may experience personal difficulties through their own or somebody else’s gambling behaviour.
Specifically:
• aim to raise awareness of gambling harms and provide information on the
prevalence and accessibility of gambling within society;
• deliver training to frontline workers to help them recognise those at risk of
gambling harms;
• support clients in accessing specialist support and treatment services.

2 Training offers:
i) an ‘Awareness Session’ – which provides information on gambling harms and an overview of the support available in Scotland and the UK.
ii) a ‘Training Session’ – this is more in-depth and explores the role of, and options available to, the support worker when responding to a client’s needs. Also provides a screening tool and highlight support from other appropriate third-party organisations.

Audience: 

Organisations and frontline workers who work with clients who may experience personal difficulties through their own or somebody else’s gambling behaviour.

Service covers the Highland, Orkney, Shetland and Western Isles.

Delivery Method:  

Normally delivered online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams or in person.

Cost to Participant:

Free.
