Body Image/Body Confidence
Be Real Campaign this campaign states: “We know that low body confidence is damaging people’s lives. It affects everyone – all ages, both sexes – and starts young. It impacts people’s physical and mental health and holds them back in life, stopping them from achieving all that they could.” Another site offering helpp with body image is Youth Health Talk A site containing lots of information for Young People. “Reach Out is a campaign launched by NHS Highland with one key aim – to tackle loneliness and social isolation in the Highlands and Argyll & Bute. Along with our partner agencies, and with your help, we are looking to ‘reach out’ to those individuals who may be lonely, and make a difference in their lives.”

“DEAL (Developing Emotional Awareness and Listening) is a free teaching resource aimed at students aged approximately 14 and over and inclusive of all abilities and learning styles. It has been developed by Samaritans in consultation with young people and schools across the UK and Republic of Ireland.” Themes include emotional health, coping strategies, dealing with feelings, connecting with others (communication skills). Material is supported with film and audio resources.
“SRN is a non-profit initiative working to achieve a Scotland where mental health recovery is a reality for all. We believe that people with experience of mental health problems and those around them should expect recovery and that recovery values and principles should form the basis of how, as a society, we approach mental health issues.”
There is a section looking at how friends and family can be an asset in recovery. This also encourages you to look after yourself.
See Me
“See Me is Scotland’s programme to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination and enable people who experience mental health problems to live fulfilled lives”. One of their key messages is “it’s okay to not feel okay”
