Introduction to Mental Health and Wellbeing

Aims and Objectives:

The aim of this course is to provide the essential knowledge and skills required by all staff working in health and social care or within partner organisations to positively impact on their own and others mental health and well-being.

 By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Describe what mental health is and what contributes to it positively or negatively
  • Identify signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety and the impact of stigma and discrimination
  • Demonstrate effective communication
  • Signpost people to support and help
  • Describe the importance of recovery.

Duration: 

3 hours

Audience: 

This is an introductory course for everyone working in any health, social or community care setting with no experience of training in mental health and well-being. This course is open to all sectors within the NHS Highland Board area.
