Safe For Now: Supporting a person with suicidal intent (Pilot)

This training has been developed by Highland Council and is offered in partnership with NHS Highland Health Improvement Team.

Aims and Objectives

To upskill people who have already attended a Suicide Intervention and Prevention Course (SIPP) and would like to build on their skill set to develop and use Safety planning tools.

Duration

3 hours

Learning Objectives

At the end of the training you will be better able to:

  • Ask about suicide
  • Assess the immediate risk of suicide
  • Assist in completing a Safety Action Plan
  • Guide a discussion with someone about the next steps in following their safety plan.

Audience

It is a prerequisite that people interested in attending this training have already attended a Suicide Intervention and Prevention (SIPP) course. This course is intended for those staff who are interested in exploring in greater depth the use of Safety Planning to keep someone safe.
